Vegetables: Your Secret Weapon for Fat Loss
By now we all know they’re healthy, however, did you know how effective fibrous vegetables are for losing body fat? They can be your secret weapon for anti aging and fat loss. Here’s why.
Power Tip #1-
Did you know that vegetables are extremely low in calories. This is very helpful for creating a calorie deficit which is necessary when looking to shift unwanted body fat.
You would have to consume something like half a dozen heads of cauliflower or broccoli to equal that calories that just one cup of pasta, or a good tablespoon of butter contains. So I hope you can see that it’s virtually impossible to eat too much vegetables. Let me show you an example.
A great dinner would be a mixture of steamed broccoli and snow peas, along with a handful of prawns (or shrimp, depending where you are from). Well, a meal like this can leave you very satisfied and feeling healthy. And guess what…you would still have consumed well under 300 calories.
Now, let’s compare this to a meal that consists of primarily processed, starchy carbohydrates. Let’s take a slice of your favorite pizza. One decent slice of this pizza will have you taking in a similar amount of calories, however, there is practically zero nutritional value.
So, the take away in this example here is that when it comes to fibrous vegetables, don’t restrict yourself on portion size!.
Power Tip #2-
From what I have written so far, hopefully you can see that vegetables are very high in fiber. This will assist you with your fat loss goals as as fiber expands in your stomach it gives you the sensation of feeling full. Some of the better sources of fiber are leafy greens, broccoli, snow peas, spinach, and kale.
Power Tip #3-
Importantly, for those with diabetic issues, fibrous vegetables have next to no negative effects on blood sugar levels. Remember that you still need to have a suitable source of protein to go along with your vegetables, so as to give you a completely balanced meal. However, chomping down on a bowl of steamed vegetables as a snack will not have a negative influence on your insulin levels.
Power Tip #4-
Vegetables are a powerful anti-aging food. They are full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. This means that you will look better, feel better, and improve your health.
I am sure you can now see how powerful vegetables are in your quest for body fat loss. Hmmm…maybe our mothers were right when they said to “eat up your vegetables.”
