Pine Tribe Author Interviews: Alexander Kjerulf [video]

For this edition of Pine Tribe Author Interviews, I sit down with Alexander Kjerulf, author of Happy Hour is 9 to 5, to get to know the story behind the Chief Happiness Officer of Woohoo inc.

Kjerulf, who started his career as a software engineer, began his own journey to teach others how to achieve happiness at work after discovering how important a happy workplace is for an organization, its employees, and its productivity. His book, Happy Hour is 9 to 5, works toward helping those who feel that they aren’t happy in their current position, and what they can do to change that.

Check out the full interview below to learn why Alexander has earned his title as Chief Happiness Officer, and how his methods can help others obtain happiness in the work place.

Kjerulf teaches us that results and relationships are two key factors in achieving happiness at work, and explains why we should prioritise these traits when considering work opportunities. He further discusses the power of fear, and how fear may work as a motivator at times, yet in the workplace it can limit creativity and innovation for the employees.

He also reaches out to those who may be in a work situation that doesn’t allow for happiness. There are scenarios where a truly unhappy job can be detrimental to your health. Through his book and tools, such as the Is it Time to Quit Your Job quiz, you can discover which steps you need to take to achieve Happiness at Work.
